According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a clemency request for consideration by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a source provided information indicating the inmate is working on the commutation application. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, declared in a news release that the prison’s warden was assisting the convict with document preparation and submission to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, per the insider, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the warden has individually organized exclusive visits for her and her guests.

These meetings allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when communications failed for other inmates, Maxwell was provided directions about who she should tell her associates to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that those writing to her would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the official to scan and provide to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Other privileges reportedly provided to her include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that she told friends and family in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

In August, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as the President's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own connections to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, the congressman also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the chief executive to reject the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” Raskin wrote in the document. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche appear for a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

He inquired whether Trump had talked about a possible clemency for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, relatives or representatives have made any promises to the President or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by 24 November.

In October, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
