Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future after another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received plenty of backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
